A partnership initiative of the “Ukraine Support & Renovation” with the “Help Ukraine Today Kh” Foundation for the Rehabilitation Department in Kharkiv.

The goal of the initiative is to equip a rehabilitation department that provides comprehensive care for injuries, limb trauma, amputations, neurological conditions, and pre-prosthetic preparation for the population of Ukraine affected by military aggression.

The department also offers psychological support (including interventions such as hippotherapy, canine therapy, art therapy, animal-assisted therapy, archery, gardening, etc.) and social adaptation assistance.

The investment is needed in two areas:

• the purchase of specialized equipment
• and the reorganization of space to ensure proper conditions necessary for high-quality rehabilitation in a patient-friendly environment.

Currently, specialists are working with minimal essential equipment and strong internal motivation. However, with proper equipment, rehabilitation efficiency will increase significantly, and the time spent with specialists will yield much better results.

Since March 2023, 650 people have undergone rehabilitation at the department (e.g., 32 people in September, 29 in October 2024).

The estimated cost for re-equipping is approximately €120,000. For the current fundraising phase, the goal is to raise €31,000 for the most urgently needed equipment.

In Bulgaria, we plan to purchase

• electric tables for rehabilitation exercises and
• two trainers for active upper and lower limb exercises, which are crucial for early rehabilitation
