With the support of UNHCR, the "Compass" Community Center begins its work in Plovdiv. The center's mission is to provide services that facilitate adaptation in the initial stages and assist in the successful integration of refugees, migrants, and third-country nationals into Bulgarian society thereafter. Activities at the Community Center are provided by specialists from various organizations: the "Ukraine Support and Renovation" Foundation, the Bulgarian Red Cross, the Charitable Catholic Organization "Caritas Vitania," and the Foundation for Access to Rights (FAR).

At this center, you can access the following services:

Overview of Services:
  1. 1. Intensive Bulgarian language course for adults, levels A1, A2, B1, with certification provided by the Bulgarian Red Cross.
  2. 2. Social support and career guidance from experts at "Caritas Vitania." They will assist you with employment by:
    • drafting your autobiography and motivational letter and helping you apply for a specific job position;
    • informing you about available job positions;
    • providing you with professional training to enhance your qualifications or acquire new skills, along with certification for the skills you already possess;
    • accompanying you to various institutions (National Revenue Agency, National Social Security Institute, Labour Office, personal physician, bank, job interviews, translator, etc.);
    • conducting consultations (individual) with answers to specific questions regarding the opening of small and medium-sized businesses;
    • informational meetings on various topics related to labor rights, diploma legalization, company registration, accounting, and others in Bulgaria.
  3. 3. Legal support from FAR - this includes access to legal rights and ensuring effective protection against arbitrary deprivation of rights. It involves an individual and comprehensive approach to each case of each person at every stage of their settlement in Bulgaria.
  4. 4. Preparation of preschool-age children for enrollment in Bulgarian schools, provided by professional educators from the "Ukraine Support and Renovation" Foundation. Developmental activities are conducted with the children systematically, resulting in them:
    • learning to read, write, and do arithmetic to a level necessary for a first grader, even if these skills are completely undeveloped in the child;
    • developing motor skills, preparing the hand for writing;
    • improving their communication skills, acquainting themselves with school etiquette - the rules for interacting with teachers and future classmates;
    • preparing for the school curriculum so that the child can confidently participate in lessons at school;
    • overcoming the fear of school, anxiety about the new environment, fear of giving wrong answers, or appearing foolish.
  5. 5. Library with over 200 books. Readers can explore works and authors in Bulgarian, Ukrainian, and English. All conditions for informational and library services to readers have been created. In the future, the organization plans to hold large-scale library events.
  6. 6. Animator who will spend time with your child while you receive a service at the center. In the play corner, children can enjoy various toys, board games, physical activities, creative workshops, and many other activities.
  7. 7. Regular informational meetings and lectures are planned on all significant topics related to successful integration into Bulgarian society.
