The second house celebrated Vyshyvanka Day

Every year on the third Thursday of May, we celebrate Vyshyvanka Day. This holiday was initiated in 2006 thanks to the initiative of Lesya Voronyuk, a student at the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. She proposed that students choose one day and all wear vyshyvankas together. Initially, the idea was supported by a few dozen students and several faculty members. Over the following years, the holiday expanded to a national level, with the Ukrainian diaspora around the world and supporters of Ukraine joining in. Vyshyvanka Day celebrates Ukrainian culture and identity through the wearing of traditional embroidered shirts, known as vyshyvankas. This has become a symbol of national pride and cultural heritage, embraced not only within Ukraine but also among communities worldwide.
Ukrainian vyshyvankas are captivating the world, charming people with their uniqueness and the deep meaning of the embroidery. Each region of Ukraine uses its own colors, techniques, and symbolism.
Today, forced to be in Bulgaria due to the war in their homeland, Ukrainians remember themselves and their history!
It is not for nothing that they say the vyshyvanka is the genetic code of the nation! We remember ourselves today – we take care of the future!
