Regarding the creation
The Plovdiv Municipality provided a large room in which the Ukraine Support & Renovation Foundation established a center for temporary housing of Ukrainians. In the spring of 2022, volunteers cleaned up, removed old furniture, renovated, and painted the premises. After dozens of days of continuous work, the building was transformed into a “Second House” for people who were forced to leave their homes.
Who are we helping?
The foundation primarily focuses on providing housing and meeting the needs of single mothers with young children, large families, people with special needs, and retirees. Every day, “Second House” is visited by dozens of Ukrainian families living in the city of Plovdiv to participate in educational programs and events organized by the foundation.
How do we help?
At “Second House,” we offer comprehensive support free of charge to residents and guests—legal aid in collaboration with the FAR Foundation, as well as educational, social, and psychological assistance. We assist with job searches and employment placement, provide consultations regarding necessary documents, and help find housing. Every day, “Second House” transforms into a place where even the boldest dreams and ideas are realized. The efforts of the foundation and its partners have created a cozy living environment and continue to expand opportunities for both children and adults. We are proud that, thanks to our joint efforts:
– The corridors of what was once an abandoned building now echo with children’s laughter.
– Classes are held in the renovated classrooms.
– The kitchen smells of Ukrainian pies.
– The grassy areas near the building bloom with plants that were planted by the residents in the fall.
The renovation is still ongoing, and we have many plans waiting to be realized. The Ukraine Support & Renovation Foundation is conducting a fundraising campaign to help us reach our ultimate goal even faster.
