THE TRAINING PROCESS
Preparation and defense of a business plan for their entrepreneurial idea by the Academy’s participants. The business plan must adhere to a specific format outlined in the study guide provided to each Academy trainee.
The sessions are conducted with the support of the “America for Bulgaria” Foundation.

Third group 03-05.2024
March 2-3, 2024. The first week of classes for the third cohort at BASE Academy.
The main speaker is Vlad Ellis, founder and CEO of the Speedflow Communications group of companies (UK, Bulgaria).
Guest speaker: Parashkeva Ivanova, editor-in-chief at TrafficNews.bg (Bulgaria, Plovdiv).
New acquaintances, new meetings, new business ideas. Learning promises to be interesting.
In the second week of classes, BASE Academy hosted engaging discussions on market research and preliminary reviews of business projects.
The lecturer is Vlad Ellis, founder and CEO of the Speedflow Communications group of companies (UK, Bulgaria).
On May 11, 2024, BASE Academy held a public defense of business plans and a ceremonial awarding of Certificates of Successful Completion.
All 23 graduates of the third cohort of BASE Academy received certificates of successful completion and became members of the BASE Club at the America for Bulgaria Foundation.
10 business projects were presented for review by an independent jury.
The jury included:
Eva Markandali, Associate Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Officer, UNHCR Representation in Bulgaria;
Daniela Voykova, UN Volunteer Programme Protection Assistant – Community-Based Protection;
Serhiy Mosolov, systems entrepreneur and managing partner at Magister Hydraulics.
The jury members noted the high quality of the business projects and presentations from all the finalists, but after a heated discussion, only two winners were selected. Their projects were recognized as the best and will be awarded cash prizes from the America for Bulgaria Foundation.
First place was awarded to Olena Tsybulko with the project for the renovation of the café-bakery “LES CROISSANTS.”
Second place was awarded to Roman Gordynov with the project for the Family Recreation and Beauty Center “BELELUSSO.”
We congratulate all the participants who submitted their projects for review by the esteemed jury and wish them success in bringing their ideas to life!

Second cohort 11-12.2023
November 11-12, 2023. The first week of classes at BASE Academy.
The main speaker is Vlad Ellis, founder and CEO of the Speedflow Communications group of companies (UK, Bulgaria).
Guest speaker – Sergey Kovpak, founder and CEO of the construction company “Build Pro” (Plovdiv, Bulgaria).
New acquaintances, new meetings, new business ideas. Learning promises to be interesting.
In the second week of classes, BASE Academy featured engaging discussions, preliminary reviews of business projects, and an important lecture on marketing and advertising with Vlad Ellis and Vasil Genchev.
Even extreme weather conditions did not prevent BASE participants, along with Olena Palatovska and Alexander Grigoryev, from mastering the secrets of rhetoric and acquiring presentation skills.
Pricing and sales are the topics for this week’s classes.
This educational week, dedicated to accounting, corporate taxation, and financial planning, concluded with an online seminar on preparing the company’s monthly budget.
The final academic week of 2023 was quite busy: Dimitar Dekov (Kavrakova, Dekov & Partners, Law Firm, Plovdiv) spoke about the legal aspects of doing business in Bulgaria, while Nata Ellis covered roles and responsibilities, and job structuring.
During this academic week, the students of the academy studied negotiation skills and techniques for presenting and defending business projects. They asked questions and tried to answer them with the help of the lecturers.
On January 20, 2024, BASE Academy hosted a vibrant public defense of the business plans by the second cohort participants and a ceremonial awarding of certificates for successful completion.
13 business projects were presented for review by an independent jury. The jury included:
Nadia Zaharieva, Program Director for Business, Entrepreneurship, and Technology at the America for Bulgaria Foundation;
Krasimira Krastanova, public figure, founder of the “Stoyna Krastanova” Foundation, associate professor, anthropologist, and cultural expert;
Serhiy Mosolov, systems entrepreneur and managing partner at Magister Hydraulics.
Nadia Zaharieva and other jury members noted the exceptionally high level of work and the quality of presentations by all the novice Ukrainian entrepreneurs.
Recognizing the exceptionally high quality of the business projects, the jury members selected four winners, among whom the Academy’s prize fund of 10,000 BGN was distributed:
First place was awarded to Oleg Zaim with the business plan for the warehouse-for-rent or personal storage “Maza.”
Second and third places were shared by three Academy graduates:
Maria Klimenchenko with the project “Glimping LakeHome”;
Irina Railko with the project for the pastry studio-café “IR HOUSE BAKERY”;
Yulia Romanchuk with the project “Pets Rest” (pet crematorium).
All 20 graduates of the second cohort at BASE Academy received certificates of successful completion and became members of the BASE Club at the America for Bulgaria Foundation.

In the fifth academic week, on Saturday, BASE listeners listened to an interesting lecture on advertising design by guest lecturer Sergey Dermenzhi, on Sunday there was a class on company accounting and taxes. Lecturers Snezhana Vaseva and Anton Voinov answered numerous questions from the listeners. We’ll see you soon!
Together we are a force! This slogan is the main thing for the successful operation of any enterprise. What kind of people does the company need for effective work? What are their roles and responsibilities? In the sixth academic week, Nata Ellis answered these and many other questions for BASE Academy listeners.
In the seventh week of classes, BASE Academy students studied the legal aspects of business in Bulgaria with Dimitar Dekov (Kavrakova, Dekov & Partners, Law Firm, Plovdiv).
The final training day before the business plan defenses at BASE Academy was packed: we discussed projects, presented our product to the target audience, and shared experiences in training. So, we are ready for the defense!!!

The final day of training at BASE Academy was marked by a public defense of business plans and a ceremonial awarding of certificates for successful completion.
For review by the independent jury, consisting of:
Nadia Zaharieva, Program Director for Business, Entrepreneurship, and Technology at the America for Bulgaria Foundation;
Veselka Hristamyan, maxillofacial surgeon, member of the Plovdiv Municipal Council, and activist in civic initiatives related to the improvement and development of the urban environment;
Serhiy Mosolov, systems entrepreneur and managing partner at Magister Hydraulics – 10 business projects were presented.
Nadia Zaharieva and other jury members noted the exceptionally high level of work and the quality of the presentations from all the novice Ukrainian entrepreneurs.
Recognizing the exceptionally high quality of the business projects, the jury members determined the winners in two categories, among which the Academy’s prize fund of 10,000 BGN was distributed:
In the category “Project with High Potential,” the winners were Yulia Gorbachova with the business plan for the massage and rehabilitation studio “Harmony” and Olena Nedova with the social-educational project “Kilimok.”
In the category “Project is Fully Ready for Implementation,” the winners were also two participants: Natalia Evcheva with the business plan for “Lashes Brows School of Natalka Brows” and Natalia Mankivska with the business plan for “Toy Academy.”
All 16 graduates of BASE Academy received certificates for successful completion and became members of the BASE Club at the America for Bulgaria Foundation.
