Since ancient times, Bulgarians have believed that the twisted white and red thread has the power to ward off evil and bring prosperity. On March 1st, everyone gives a Martenitsa to their loved ones, wishing them a successful and blessed year. We wear it until we see the first blooming tree or a stork flying by \u2013 a sign that spring has arrived and renewal is ahead.   <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"335559738\":240,\"335559739\":240}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p aria-level=\"3\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Inspiration and New Beginnings with &#8220;Second Home&#8221;<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"134245418\":true,\"134245529\":true,\"335559738\":281,\"335559739\":281}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">During our handicrafts class, we prepared for the &#8220;Baba Marta&#8221; holiday! <\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">This year, the Martenitsas that will be given as gifts carry an even deeper meaning. They were created with love and dedication by the children of the Ukrainian community &#8220;Second Home&#8221; in Plovdiv \u2013 young artists who have found a new beginning in Bulgaria. As they twist the white and red threads, they not only recreate an ancient tradition but also symbolize their personal story of hope, recovery, and a new path in life.  <\/span> <br \/><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The children crafted various types of Martenitsas \u2013 classic ones, tassel designs, bracelets, beaded styles, and even heart-shaped ones. Each Martenitsa is a symbol of warmth, joy, and a wish for good health for the person who receives it. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Every knot, every red and white thread in their hands is not just an ornament but a piece of kindness, sincerity, and inspiration. The children are excited about their creations because soon they will be able to gift them to friends, teachers, and loved ones, continuing the tradition of friendship and light. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"335559738\":240,\"335559739\":240}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p aria-level=\"3\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Acceptance, Integration, and New Traditions<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"134245418\":true,\"134245529\":true,\"335559738\":281,\"335559739\":281}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Bulgaria is not just a place of shelter \u2013 it is a home for everyone who feels it in their heart. The children of &#8220;Second Home&#8221; not only find warmth and support but also eagerly embrace Bulgarian traditions as their own. Their story is an inspiration, proving the power of acceptance and integration and showing that cultures can intertwine in harmony, just like the threads of a Martenitsa.
